Pre-Surgical Instructions
If you are scheduled for excision of a skin cancer, an abnormal mole, or a cyst, please be advised that we recommend discontinuing the following 7 days prior to your visit:
- Aspirin (unless prescribed by doctor)
- Advil
- Ibuprofen
- Motrin
- Aleve
- Fish Oil / Omega-3
- Vitamin E
- Ginkgo Biloba
- Garlic supplements
- Please do not stop any prescribed blood thinning medications unless it was advised by your medical provider
Phototherapy Instructions
Please be aware that all phototherapy procedures carry a certain amount of risk that should be discussed with one of our staff at Alta Vista Dermatology prior to your visit. Just prior to your visit, we recommend the following:
- Discontinue all topicals for at least 3 days
- Be prepared to minimize sun exposure following the procedure, so bring a hat or umbrella.
- Drink plenty of water
- Be prepared to be away from sunlight for 48 hours
